Here’s the back cover done today! Still not sure if the yellow works either…wallpaper is difficult!!!
Giant Women Rule The World
No that is not Justin Timberlake’s newest song title, it is a post on his website containing photo photography work by Julia Fullerton-Batten of “giant women”. This is my favourite of the woman at the airport carrying her luggage to the plane. It is not photo manipulation, she was photographed on a scale model set!!

Alcon Work In Progress
Here’s another work in progress. Personally I find the blue hideous, so I am open to ideas for a different colour or background entirely! Just don’t bash it loads please, I know it looks like a baby boy’s bedroom and that’s why it is going to be changed!!

- Alcon Front Cover 2009 WIP
I’m going to raise the white border and change the lower portion to vertical wood panels. The carpet I will make creamier, or wood, not sure. I might drop the spots, could look too overwhelming printed. Haha. Might just go for a gradient fill with a dark blue that matches their jackets. Or a pale yellow… decisions, decisions!! Well I’m working on it! I’ll take a break from the front and start on the back cover. Bye =]
Edit: Yellow any better? Had help from my sister in Barbados.

I have been working most of the day on this and got some valuable pointers from my little sister who is amazing by the way: Edalie-Chan
I finished the lineart and the colouring of the mascots. Next up is the sofa, wall and back cover which includes a television, games console. picture frame and plant.

Alcon Backgrounds
I got a last minute commission from Alcon to create the backgrounds for their con badges. Mou-s had already drawn the characters so that was a relief! Here is what we both produced:

Alcon Cover 2009
Afternoon,
I’ve been working on Alcon’s 3rd conbook cover by me. This year they want the mascots (Al-kun and Al-chan) interacting in a sister-brotherly way, so I concluded that they should be playing video games where Al-chan (outgoing, confident, cheeky) beats Al-kun (quiet, introvert, serious) at one of their own video games – in this case the TV will be displaying the artwork I created for Alcon’s 2007 conbook. The perspective is going to be kinda surreal with the two characters on the front and the TV, picture frame and plant on the back cover. Here’s my WIP.

Young Northern Design 09 Finalist
I am so pleased, today my tutor, Andy Coombs, told me that I have been selected as a Young Northern Design finalist! My digital CVÂ created at college was selected by the panel of judges.
I get to exhibit my work and attend the award dinner on June 18th (two days after my birthday)Â . I am really excited because Andy is coming too, so I’m not as nervous anymore! Hopefully it will go really well and my work will gain exposure. Fingers crossed! Keep checking up on their website, my work will be on there soon!
